Episode 15A - Event Horizon (1997) & Aliens (1986)
Happy April! We made it! This month, Axis and Moaner will re-watch Horror classics, Event Horizon (1997) & Aliens (1986).
The pair will talk about all sorts of characters, but one of their favorites is Set Decorator, Crispian Sallis, who lent his insights to both of the aforementioned films. There’s a Shout Factory documentary clip interviewing Sallis, which is definitely worth checking out.
In addition to all the other fine holidays it contains, April is also National Austism Awareness Month and Moaner and Axis suggest becoming more informed about autism via the Autism Self Advocacy Network (ASAN). Likewise, since Halloween will be precisely six months away as of April 31st, the pair think it’s a good idea for home-owners to know the difference between the symbolism behind a Blue Pumpkin and the Teal Pumpkin. As always, informing oneself about neurodiverse members of the community is always a good thing. :)
Finally, this will be Horror News Anchor, Sofia Orion’s last episode with us. Thank you, Sofia, you will be missed!

Episode 13A - The Mothman Prophecies (2002) & Ravenous (1999)
Happy New Year and Women in Horror Month! The team sends their apologies for the late start. For February, Axis and Moaner have decided to watch Mark Pellington’s The Mothman Prophecies (2002) & Antonia Bird’s Ravenous (1999).
As this month covered cryptids, Moaner and Axis talked a bit about their favorite modern mythological monsters. Regarding Mothman, Axis noted the sometimes comparable forms of Mothman to a thousands-year old cryptid, the thunderbird. Moaner mentioned that (when Covid-free) Point Pleasant, Virginia celebrates an annual Mothman celebration at the Mothman Museum. Axis also made mention of The Moth Cam - a 24-hour webcam that monitors the statue of Mothman (including the statue’s shapely rear-end).
For our monthly good cause, Axis decided the most wonderful idea would be to use the Southern Poverty Law Center’s map of confederate monuments to encourage listeners to call or write in to their local representatives and encourage them to replace the confederate statues in their hometown with Mothman and/or a their local cryptid. In fact, such a petitions already exist.

Episode 12A - Rare Exports (2010) & Gremlins (1984)
Bringing 2020 to a close, Moaner and Axis decided to watch Rare Exports (2010) and Gremlins (1984) in celebration of the holidays. For those interested in learning a bit more about Krampus, Moaner recommends picking up a copy of Rue Morgue 107.
From the entire TLN crew: Safe holidays, Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2021!
